Try a grow bagLearn the production stepsCompost, casing and controlled growing conditions need their own plan. Ask about training and suitability before investing.
Discuss button productionCurious about shiitake, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail or Cordyceps? Discuss cultivation separately from buying finished products. Species listed here are not a statement of current spawn availability.
Ask about speciality cultivationChoose what you need, then confirm the right specification, current availability and delivery with our team.
Ask about an oyster bag prepared for growing, its stage on arrival and the room conditions you’ll need. Follow the instructions supplied with your specific kit.
Each stage needs its own conditions. Use your strain and supplier instructions alongside practical training.
Match the species to a suitable substrate and treatment method. Plan the room, water, clean handling and market before you inoculate.
Practical starting points for oyster production. For timings, treatment methods and room settings, follow guidance for your actual strain and setup.
Oyster is a useful starting point for many new growers. Button, shiitake and speciality mushrooms use different production systems. Confirm your strain, suitable conditions, local demand and intended product before buying stock.
Oyster can grow on suitable prepared agricultural residues such as straw. Source clean material, follow a validated preparation and treatment method, and use the same dry or wet weight basis when calculating inputs. Ask for method-specific training instead of guessing treatment temperatures or timings.
Plan cleanable surfaces, suitable shelving, drainage, pest exclusion and access for cleaning. Separate dirty preparation from clean inoculation. Balance humidity with fresh-air exchange and temperature management; check conditions where the bags actually sit.
Check the species, strain, batch information, condition on arrival and supplier storage guidance. Arrange delivery when your room and substrate are ready. Keep batches identifiable and follow the instructions for the product you receive.
Use clean water and tools and control entry into production areas. Separate suspect bags without opening or disturbing them in the growing room. Do not sell or eat visibly spoiled mushrooms; ask for a review before changing the whole system.
Track inoculation, room readings, observations, harvest weights, discarded bags and costs. Keep harvested mushrooms clean and cool with suitable packaging. Review the actual results of a small batch before expanding.
Find published resources, request a mushroom guide or bring your questions to training.
General production education: Cornell Small Farms: Indoor Production and University of Florida IFAS: Oyster Mushroom FunGuide. Adapt any method with local technical guidance and your supplier’s strain instructions.
Use your own production assumptions. These tools calculate quantities and actual costs; they do not predict yield or income.
Example inputs: 100 bags × 1 kg × 5%. This is an arithmetic example, not a recommended spawn rate. Use the rate your supplier specifies and keep the substrate weight basis (wet or dry) consistent. Include spawn, substrate, labour, utilities, packaging, transport, rent and losses in your cost.
Zero cost means no costs have been entered. Calculated spawn is an estimate from your assumptions; confirm the method and order quantity with the team.

These are checks to guide a conversation, not a diagnosis. Share photos and batch records with our team.
Check strain guidance, batch stage, spawn condition, substrate treatment and temperature records. Fruiting and incubation have different requirements. Ask for a review if growth stalls or smells change.
Discuss my batchReview fresh-air exchange, humidity, light and temperature together. Compare readings at crop level. Change one factor at a time and keep a record; appearance alone does not establish the cause.
Discuss my batchSeparate suspect material and avoid disturbing it in clean areas. Review treatment, inoculation hygiene, source batches and pest activity. Ask for a disposal and prevention plan; do not attempt to rescue spoiled mushrooms for sale.
Discuss my batchInspect entry points, screens, standing water, waste handling and batch age. Track affected batches and harvest losses. Seek advice on controls appropriate to an edible crop before applying any chemical.

A suitable small space and a prepared oyster grow bag can be a learning start. Check the light, ventilation, temperature, water and hygiene requirements first. A home trial is different from a commercial production plan.
It depends on prepared substrate weight, the specified spawn rate, species and production method. Use the calculator as arithmetic support, then confirm the actual method and quantity with the supplier.
Timings and saleable yield depend on the strain, substrate, spawn, growing conditions and contamination. Ask for product-specific guidance and measure your own batches; there is no guaranteed harvest or income here.
Send your location, available space, utilities, species, budget, intended scale and market. The team will discuss assessment, scope, a quotation and support arrangements with you.
Use the product enquiry to confirm current availability, specifications, price and delivery. Mushroom products on this section are quoted by the team before payment.
Do not plan production on an assumed buy-back. Any purchasing or offtake arrangement needs a separate agreement with the buyer.
Use the instructions supplied for your actual kit. If your order includes a protected file, check the Downloads Centre in the purchase browser. Otherwise ask the team with your order details.
